Walking Wapping Warm-up: Outside Knees

outside-kneeWe're on the last movement of our Walking Wapping Warm-up series. Oh, the sadness! For handy dandy reference purposes, here's how we got this far:

As you know, the second half of the warm-up focuses on the lower body. And this one follows suit. It's the mythical, legendary...outside knee!

As with the side knee, there's really no such thing as an "outside knee." This one gets its name because it resembles the movement of an outside crescent kick but without the kicking part. This allows us to focus on opening (and warming) up the hips. See for yourself below.

Don't get carried away trying to get too high, too far outside, or going too fast. Remember this is a warm-up! Keep your legs and hips relaxed through the movement to avoid creating restrictions through muscle tension. That was a mouthful! But you get it. You're smart. Otherwise you wouldn't be reading this.

Just one more video in this series: a conclusion to wrap things up nice and neat.

Be seeing you.
