Resistance training is a time-tested way to improve strength. There are many ways to get resistance, including:
- Barbells
- Dumbbells
- Kettlebells
- Resistance Bands
- Body weight
and more. But there's another form of training that most people don't realize is really a kind of resistance training.
Regular readers know my fondness for "wapping" ... punching, kicking, kneeing, and elbowing various forms of pads. What most people don't realize is that it's a form of resistance training. This video from an old-style StrongFast Planet newsletter (circa 2013) explains how it works.
Newsletter readers get more and get it sooner. You can join in on the fun via strongfastfitness.com .
In any case, if you haven't tried wapping, you should. It's a great workout and a lot of fun. If you're in the Buffalo area, I'd be happy to get you going at StrongFast Fitness. Or contact Sensei Hutch at 7 Tigers Martial Arts (716.893.4942) and tell him The StrongFast Planet sent you.
Be seeing you.
